Plantation, FL (March 10, 2010) — Strutting to the high-energy sounds of Lady Gaga and other musicians, models dotted the runway showing off the elegant, chic, must-have designs of Victoria Lopez Castro during a New York-style fashion show that benefited the American Red Cross. The Feb. 26 show at The Westin Beach Resort, Fort Lauderdale which featured dresses, blouses and skirts of lively pinks, blues and whites, raised over $50,000 in support of emergency disaster services and health and safety programs offered locally by the American Red Cross. “After all this hard work, it was fun to see everything come together and to see so many people come out and support the American Red Cross,” Victoria Lopez Castro said. “It was wonderful for me to use my creativity and designs to benefit something bigger than me. I’m proud to be part of the Red Cross family.” “Victoria pulled off another fantastic show that not only gave us a taste of the hottest fashion for the season but showed the more than 400 guests why it’s important for them to support the American Red Cross locally,” said Alicia Laszewski, Chapter Executive of the American Red Cross Broward County Chapter. “Donations to our local chapter help pay for a variety of services that the Red Cross offers from the shelter offered to families who lose everything in a fire to the programs that teach CPR skills to our community.” Lopez Castro is highly regarded as one of the most up and coming Hispanic fashion designers in the U.S. Her couture is a must have for celebrities such as Gloria Estefan, tennis pros Mary Jo Fernandez and Monica Seles, Rita Moreno, Cristina Saralegui, Vanna White, and news anchor Alina Mayo Azze. Lopez Castro’s designs, which are currently available at select Saks stores and boutiques and have been sold at Nordstrom’s, Saks Palm Beach, and boutiques nationwide including Lopez Castro’s own boutique in Miami, have made a big splash on the covers of Vogue, W, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanidades, Vogue en Español, Women’s Wear Daily, and have been featured in The Miami Herald, and El Nuevo Herald.
